Mehfil Video, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh

Before the advent of multi-screen theater in Hamirpur, there was only this Mehfil Video Parlor, which had its own charm, a huge fan-following and a lot to entice, back when movies had a different feel altogether. As usual, things have changed a lot over the years and this video parlor does not function any longer, but there are a few vivid memories associated with it. There was only one movie theater or talkies in Hamirpur in the late 90s' and it was closed just before 'Andaz Apna Apna" was released. There was big posters of that movie on the walls of theater, but it was never played there. For years, Mehfil video served its purpose very well, as being the only source of joy for movie lovers, who wanted to watch latest movies. There were wooden chairs and a big screen (yes it was big as compared to a color Television). Interestingly, I never watched a movie in Mehfil Video Parlour but got to know a lot about it from others or my friends.
